Suzanne is a Portfolio Management Director, Certified Portfolio Manager® with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. As one of a handful of Certified Portfolio Managers with the firm, she runs discretionary, customized portfolios for individual families, Foundations, and non-profits.
Prior to her work in wealth management, Suzanne was founder, CEO/President of Exterra Credit Recovery, Inc. Founded in Exterra in 1997, Suzanne and her team grew the firm to 500 employees and $500 million in assets under management in a three year period. They raised $100 million in capital to fund this growth. In 1999, the firm was awarded an “Above Average” servicer rating by Standard and Poor’s, one of only three companies in their sector to achieve such an award.
Prior to Exterra, Suzanne was Senior Vice President, Managing Director at Household International. In this capacity, Suzanne acted as Head of Operations for North America, responsible for over $16 billion in assets and 1,850 employees for the North American operations. She was twice awarded, “Mentor of the Year” for her work selecting and developing young executives. Suzanne acted as an expert witness, testifying before Congress on key legislation. She was also a member of the Audit committee of the Board of Directors.
During her 18 years with Household, Suzanne worked in many different departments, learning from the ground up, understanding virtually every part of how a company operates to achieve “best in class” results. Understanding financial ratios, balance sheets, capital structure, and cash flows aids her as she works with her clients on many broad-ranging issues.
After Suzanne received her Master’s Degree in Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, she went on to obtain Portfolio Management Certification from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science. Taking pride in giving back, she is involved in her community and is a Board Member of the non-profit The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County. In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys kayaking, photography, wine tasting, and cooking. She recently took up fishing, but as yet, no fish have been harmed by this new activity. She lives with her spouse and two dogs, Mr. Truman and Rupert in Soquel California.
